Retraction Calibration Pillars

Download an STL, slice it with your own profile, then hand the g-code back. Every 5 mm band gets a different retraction, applied to the travels your slicer already planned — so the winning value is one you can put straight into your profile. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

1 · Get the model

12 bands · 61 mm tall. One band per 5 mm module, each separated by a visible waist.

Slicing it: use the profile you actually want to calibrate. No raft — it shifts every layer upward and breaks the height-to-band mapping. Brim is fine. A layer height that divides 5 mm evenly (0.1, 0.2, 0.25) puts the band boundaries exactly on the printed rings.

2 · Upload the sliced g-code

Drop your sliced g-code here — .gcode or .bgcodeThe file your slicer produced from the STL above — it carries your printer profile, start/end blocks and retraction settings.

3 · Choose what to sweep

Retraction distance

How far filament is pulled back. The usual thing to calibrate.

Retraction speed

Short retractions can't reach high speeds — see the warnings below.

Temperature

Stringing is strongly temperature-driven; sweeping it alongside distance confounds both.
